It is with profound sadness that the Mannford Public Schools community mourns the heartbreaking loss of James Slawson of Mannford, an incoming freshman and member of the Mannford High School wrestling family.
James was remembered by coaches, classmates, and friends as one of the hardest-working and kindest young men to come through the school community. Known for his contagious smile and positive attitude, he made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
His coaches and teammates admired not only his dedication and determination, but also the encouragement and joy he brought to others each day. Whether in school, on the mat, or among friends, James carried a spirit that uplifted those around him.
The tragic news of his passing has left the entire Mannford community heartbroken. Family, friends, teammates, teachers, and coaches are grieving the loss of a young life gone far too soon.
In support of those affected, a safe gathering place for friends, family members, and school staff will be held in the Mannford High School Commons on Monday, May 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for the community to come together, grieve, and support one another during this difficult time.
As loved ones reflect on James’s life, they remember a young man full of promise, kindness, and heart—someone who made people smile simply by being himself.
James Slawson will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
May he rest in peace.
